Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud

In the first half of 2025, the Wallraf will be showing the third and final part of its "Sensation of Seeing" exhibition trilogy. After stops in the Baroque and Impressionism Department, Werner Nekes' fascinating media collection will make a guest appearance in the medieval section of the Cologne museum. In the main hall there, the specially designed Zoetrop with selected exhibits of image production stands amidst late Gothic altarpieces. The legendary film director Werner Nekes (1944-2017) was so fascinated by the "history of image creation" that he collected around 25,000 exhibits over thirty years. Together with the Theatre Studies Collection of the University of Cologne, the Wallraf is bringing together the highlights of the world's largest and best collection on media history with works from its own collection.
