THE WALLRAF IS CLOSING...
After 25 successful years with more than 3 million visitors, the Wallraf-Richartz Museum is in urgent need of renovation. To ensure that the iconic building designed by star architect Oswald Mathias Ungers continues to shine as a beacon of Cologne culture in the future, the museum will close for a two-year general renovation starting in July 2025.
During this time, the entire museum will be closed. Our artworks will not be shown at other locations either. But you can already look forward to a new Wallraf. In autumn 2028, the ‘old’ renovated Ungers building and the ‘new’ extension by Swiss architects Christ & Gantenbein will reopen as one large, combined Wallraf-Richartz Museum & Fondation Corboud. Rest assured: it will be worth the wait!
